Internship Information

This is a Construction Management Internship program for our Las Vegas, Southern Nevada operations division. We are looking for smart, enthusiastic and self-motivated Construction Management students that have good communication skills, critical thinking skills, are well organized, are detail-oriented and can work independently in a fast-paced environment.


Intern Work Schedule: 


Non-summer hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00-4:00, 40 hrs. per week

Summer Hours: Monday-Friday, 6:00-3:00, 40 hrs. per week


Dates of Internship: Spring Semester, Summer Season and Fall Semester


Location Information: Las Vegas Corporate, Las Vegas Southern Nevada


The internship program is designed to provide a foundation of technical knowledge and professional experience while giving students the opportunity to learn the business of distributing natural gas. To foster professional growth and development the intern is expected to participate in field meets and pre-post construction walks, track chart recorder locations and calibration dates, damage prevention packages and research, and respirator usage tracking compliance (company-wide). All interns will provide a summary presentation of lessons learned to Company management at the end of the program. Interns are expected to fulfill a 12 week commitment. This position is 5 days a week for a total of 40 hours a week.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Intern candidate must be an actively enrolled student at an accredited college and/or university.
  • Candidates must be in at least their junior year and must be majoring in fields related to the Company.
  • Commit to interning for a minimum of twelve (12) weeks and a 40-hour work week.
  • Internship positions are filled through our staffing partner; Interns are not direct employees of Southwest Gas.
  • Additionally, candidates must meet the following criteria:
    • Cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0
    • Most recent semester/quarter GPA greater than or equal to 3.0
    • Unofficial transcript submittal is required

In addition to the minimum qualifications, our Construction Intern Candidate must meet the following:


  • Currently enrolled in a Construction Management degree program
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn technical knowledge quickly
